Revival encouragement

Revival encouragement
15-Oct-2016

Hi everyone,

As we come to the end of our month of prayer for revival, I wanted to write to the fellowship to pause and reflect on what we have been doing and why.

Jesus was only a boy when He purposed Himself to be about our Father’s business. From the parable of the talents we know that God is indeed like a businessman. From the parable of the sower and the seed we know that some seed will germinate and become fruitful and some will not; that it is largely dependant on the readiness of one’s heart to receive it; and that our job is to sow and water wherever and whenever we have opportunity.

It’s God who gives the increase. We can’t create revival; we can’t even create the conditions for revival, i.e. the state of men’s and women’s hearts in the society in which we live. All we can do, and what our God requires us to do through His love, is to seek the Lord in prayer and be about the business of revival in our daily lives.

During this last month many encouragements have been shared, many prayers made, fastings committed, outreaches held, people spoken to, visitors welcomed into our midst. We have seen hundreds of people baptised of water and the Holy Spirit in places like PNG where people are readier to receive the gospel. We have been planting the seeds of revival. While we can never know how much we will harvest, truly we can expect and act as though the harvest is at hand.

So brothers and sisters, take heart and be encouraged. Remember that the very best and indeed the only way to show people the light is if we continue in the light ourselves. The light of Jesus; the light of the written Word of God; the light of the Spirit of Truth. Let’s stay strong, stand firm, continue in the faith, and continue to seek the Lord and be about His business.

Thank you to all of those who have contributed in one way or another over the last month, it has been truly inspiring.

Yours in Christ,
Dan.

Lastly, below is a summary of the encouragements that have been shared over the last month, pulled together by sister Ros C in Sydney.

Revival P&F encouragement summaries

Sep 2016

Our light is shining brightly when we are rejoicing in song. Make a joyful noise each and every Sunday.

Our life is a vapour! Keep your eye on the big picture. For more revival - shine your light & redeem the time!
God is not a respecter of persons. Spread the Gospel to everyone and anyone!
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth. Arguments won’t win souls. Your love for God, His Spirit & His Word will!
Pray for the Lord to place someone in our way and make sure we are ready to take that opportunity and speak the Word.
Be inclusive and have empathy for all, especially those who are different!
Don’t let a moment of sinful pleasure deceive & tempt you into losing your salvation!
Live your life with PURPOSE
P: Purpose
U: Understanding
R: Riches
P: Patience
O: Obedience
S: Strength
E: Eyesight / vision
Be beautifully bold for the Lord! It’s not awkward. It’s awesome. Maybe it’s weird - but it’s worth it.
Everyone needs the hope, comfort & salvation that Jesus provides. So share that hope, because everyone needs restoration and reconciliation!
Freely ye have received, freely give. Now we have a field which is ‘white (ready) for harvest’. Time to be out doing God’s bidding.
Let our love for each other be palpable!
Our duty is to offer prayers in the morning/evening and keep the lamps topped up and burning bright.
Be continually washed and be a wave of love.
Having compassion will help us to think as the Lord thinks - to see people as lost and without a shepherd. Let us not grow weary.
A Christian without the Holy Spirit is not a Christian! Now is the time the gospel must be shouted from the rooftops. Will you be silent?
The Bible has jewels to reveal and build your faith!
Let’s be like King Asa and let our light shine … live our lives for the Lord and let our testimony draw people in.
Remember our unique “selling point” - no other “religion” has this. God’s Spirit dwelling within and teaching us from within. This is the truth. And we have the truth.
“Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
We all have the ability to speak through the Holy Spirit … let us pray for the willingness to speak!
Preach the word; be instant in season and out of season. Even if we are socially isolated or persecuted for it. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
If godly wisdom is applied, which means we consider others first, the blessings and life follow.
Trials may come in the form of illness, social and financial hardships of many kinds, even the dumb things we say and do. Through our overcoming and confidence in God, He can bring a hope for others.
Do not underestimate the testimony in your own home. Your role as a parent is to be an example and show our kids where truth comes from, how to find it and how to hold on to it.
Do we reflect God’s official position or our own? Are we true representatives sharing the ministry of reconciliation? God has given us the authority and empowered us to speak.
Shine in a dark place and reflect his beauty.
Our most powerful weapon is our personal testimony. How Jesus saved me. Pray for opportunity, and expect the Lord to provide everything you need.
Focus on being consistently faithful in the simple things, you never know where your faithfulness might take us!
Abundant opportunities to share the gospel and see revival will occur when we are diligent and consistent in prayer.
In this “Information Age” it is only through our testimony that the truth of God’s plan & promises can be made obvious to non-believers.
We all have a wonderful testimony, and we are simply asked to speak!
